Attempted Armed Robbery: Occurred on 1/18 at 11:12 PM- Webster St., Marriot Hotel

On January 18th, 2012 at 11:12 PM Brookline dispatch gave out a call of an armed robbery that had just taken place at The Marriot Hotel on Webster St. Units responded to the area and a description was given out of a black male wearing a black hat, a dark scarf and a tan work jacket who displayed a firearm and attempted to obtain money from the staff at the front counter of the hotel.

Several units responded to the area and conducted a search for the suspect but were unable to locate him. Detectives began a follow up investigation with the witnesses to the robbery.

An employee was working the front counter when she observed a man she described as being a dark skinned black male, wearing a black knit cap, a black scarf over his face, and black or dark grey gloves wearing a tan "work jacket" come into the lobby and approach the counter. The male placed an object on the front counter which the employee recognized to be a silver and black firearm. The male asked her to open the cash drawers, which revealed no money. The suspect then quickly exited the hotel after being unsuccessful in his robbery attempt. The suspect fled the hotel out the front door onto Webster St and made a right turn and headed toward Harvard St. A hotel guest who witnessed the incident from the lobby called 911 to report the robbery....
