Crowds scoop up PCPA costumes
Piecing together the perfect Halloween costume is no easy task, but Liesa Porcho was one step closer to achieving that goal Friday.
After scouring racks of discounted theatrical and ’50s and ’60s era costumes, Porcho, an accounting major at Hancock College, had found a hat, skirt and scarf that would transform her into Eponine, a fictional character in Les Misérables.
“Now all I need is her jacket,” Porcho said while holding several potential purchases outside Hancock College’s PCPA warehouse at the second-ever costume sale.
A line of costume-hungry shoppers had gathered at the warehouse at 643 S. College Drive before noon Friday when costumes from Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts productions went on sale.
Deal seekers forked out $20 — or less — for costumes worth several hundred dollars, including ones from past productions of “Annie,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “42nd Street.

I don’t know why other reviewers say this toy doesn’t work, because it does! I bought 2 of them for Christmas, and both of them worked just fine. You can test it while still in the packaging (which I did), so it obviously had some sort of battery in it already, and we were playing with it right out of the package. And as long as you keep your mouth close to the microphone area when talking, and hold the “trigger” the entire time, the changed voice is by far louder than your normal voice. You can change the settings to lots of different combinations to get different voices. My six year old nephew had a blast with this, but the funny thing is, the adults enjoyed it just as much as the kids! It has one deep, Darth Vader-type voice, so of course all the adults wanted to say “Luke, I am your father!” into it, LOL. The six year old was walking around telling everyone to “Take me to your leader.” in a robotic voice. It will also do high-pitched voices, and many other combos. Great fun for everyone!...
