what age do you think its acceptable to wear these at? and are they ok for my 14 year old son?
The maximum age that can pull those off would probably be 10 yrs old. Past that, he will probably get laughed at. Trust me: I bought my younger cousin (14 yrs old) a pair of socks similar to that because he said he needed socks for soccer practice...

I think all your suggestions sound really cute. Maybe instead of boy shorts though, wear shorts just a slight bit longer, around mid-thigh (athletic shorts). Now for the game, I am guessing it's still going to be on the cold side unless you are indoors for the game. Start with
