Bad stitching
They were great while they lasted. Unfortunately the stitching gave out in several areas after a few weeks. I have owned several pairs of Mechanix brand gloves over the years and they have generally lasted until the tips of the fingers wear out and get holes. These snap-on gloves didn't last...

My wife and I got a nice set of pots and pans as a gift. The problem is the handles are metal. It turns out that in this one instance high school physics is useful, because sure enough they conduct heat.
They make rubber handle covers for pots and pans. Or you can sew them yourself. I prefer the rubber because they are less likely to burn....see link below.

Weslaco lightweight Omar "Panterita" Figueroa (13-0-1, 10 knockouts) is starting the new year with what figures to be the toughest fight of his boxing career.
With the WBO intercontinental lightweight title at stake, Figueroa is set to face Michael "Mikey" Perez (15-0-1, nine KOs) of Newark, N.J., in a scheduled 10-rounder Friday at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, Calif. The fight will be telecast live on Showtime's ShoBox at 10 p.m. as the co-main event. The 10-round main event has Luis Ramos Jr. (20-0, nine KOs) battling Raymundo Beltran (25-5, 17 KOs) for the NABA USA lightweight title.
Perez won the lightweight championship at the 2008 Golden Gloves national tournament.
"This is definitely going to be Omar's toughest fight (to date)," said Omar Figueroa Sr., the Weslaco boxer's father and manager. "Omar is motivated to do his best. If he can win this one, it'll bring a lot of pride to the Valley.
"It's a 50-50 fight," he added. "The ones who put on these (ShoBox) shows try to make it fair to both fighters (by arranging even matchups). This guy will be tough to beat, but if Omar can win, it will really boost his career and should give him a top 10 ranking.
Tommy Gun set for Vegas debut | Golden Gloves
As Christmas tidings go, Tommy Oosthuizen could not have asked for much more.
This follows promoter Rodney Berman receiving confirmation that he will appear on the undercard of one of the biggest fights of 2012 – the February 11 rematch between Victor Ortiz and Andre Berto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Promoter Lou Di Bella is putting the tournament together and his association with Berman has led to Oosthuizen’s Las Vegas debut.
“Lou promised they were hot for Tommy and predicted big things in 2012 . . . this is just the start,” said Berman. “It goes without saying that this is a gilt-edged opportunity for Tommy. Things are opening up in the super-middleweights and it’s all up to him how he wants to play it.”
The first Ortiz-Berto fight was a war and contender for fight of the year in 2011, with Ortiz upsetting the more-fancied Berto.
This week was a double celebration for Berman, who received confirmation that cruiserweight Zack Mwekassa will also feature on the Las Vegas bill. Mwekassa is fast running out of local opposition and will be matched against American opposition in the US....
